William R. Everett Sr., a former resident of Westhampton, died on April 24 at his home in Rapid City, South Dakota. He was 79.
Mr. Everett was born to William and Anna (née Stametts) Everett on June 14, 1930, in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania. He served in the U.S. Air Force for several years and eventually worked for the Grumman Aerospace Corporation.
He married Clarice E. Dearman on April 24, 1951, in Tarrytown, New York, and they lived in Westhampton from 1961 to 2003, when they relocated to Rapid City.
While residents of Westhampton, both he and his wife were members of the Westhampton United Methodist Church and upon moving to South Dakota, the couple became members of the First United Methodist Church of Rapid City.
In addition to his wife, Clarice E. Everett, he is survived by two sons, William R. Everett Jr. of North Carolina and Mark Everett and his wife Nadine of South Dakota; three daughters, Dorothy E. Shary and her husband Christopher of Florida, Faith B. Jayne and her husband Bret of Remsenburg and Grace K. Mulholland and her husband John of Westhampton Beach; 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
The family received visitors on April 28 at the Kirk Funeral Home in South Dakota. Funeral services were held on April 29 at the First United Methodist Church of Rapid City, also in South Dakota. Interment with military honors provided by the TREA Chapter 29 of Rapid City followed at Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, South Dakota.
