When we window-shop for a house, we like to go all out. Master bedroom with walk-in closets bigger than our real-life house? Yes, please. Professional chef's kitchens that our imaginary butlers will find suitable? Don't mind if we do.

This time, we turned to the bathroom. It may not be the first thing that comes to mind when pretending to buy a mansion, but a good washroom goes a long way. And, where else are we supposed to imagine kicking off our shoes after a long day and swan-diving into luxurious bubble baths? Check out these high-priced listings with some extraordinary bathrooms.

Briar Patch in East Hampton Village—$140 million

At first blush, this looks like your average, quaint, bathroom. Nearly everything screams pinch-its-cheeks adorable—cute little wall lamps, neat drapery, a wooden-trimmed counter. However, there is something rather unusual about this room. Take a closer look at the tub—it's shaped like a hot dog! Albeit odd, this is actually perfect for us tall folk who are used to having our knees stick out of the water because most tubs are only slightly longer than our arms.

Water Mill Mansion—$45 million

Is it just us, or is this bathroom a bit understated? Just kidding, it's perfect! Flatscreen TV? Fireplace? Nearly invisible shower? Check! Check! Check! And the wall-to-wall matching marble tiling gives it just the right touch of over-the-top Old World-y extravagance that we're looking for.

Southampton Teak—$26 million

Ever get the urge to be in a wooden spaceship while putting on your makeup? Anyone? To the untrained eye, this may appear to be a dizzying array of teak paneling. And, okay, it is. But to the professional fantasy house shopper—that's us!—it's also a swanky, New Age cabin retreat, perfect for our inner moneyed woodsman.

Georgica Pond—$28.95 million

When we're in a palatial kind of mood, this bathroom would definitely fit the bill. From what looks like a shower with a bench we can stretch out on, to what we hope is a sauna the next door over, to none other than another wonderful bathtub, this master bath meets all of our spa requirements in a proper fantasy home.

Water Mill Estate—$20.999 million

Larger than many New York City apartments, this marble-clad water closet is one of 9.5 baths in this Water Mill estate. Complete with a chandelier, tons of mirrors and doors we hope lead to a private patio, this bathroom would satisfy all of our needs for opulence. Now if you'll excuse us, we have some extreme pampering to do!

Tips for Avoiding Rental Scams

Rental scams are pervasive, targeting both those seeking permanent housing and those seeking a quick getaway or seasonal lease. To help prospective tenants avoid falling prey to scams, the New York Department of State’s Division of Consumer Protection is calling attention to common rental scams. The main takeaway is this: Avoid sending money for rental properties without first verifying the legitimacy of the listing. In 2023, the FBI received 9,521 real estate/rental scam related complaints with losses of over $145 million. “In today’s highly competitive housing market, renters are often targeted by scammers who use enticing offers to steal their ... by Staff Writer
