Designed by renowned architect and interior designer Daniel Romualdez, a Southampton Village residence known as the “Sugar Cube House” has sold after lasting asking $11.95 million.

At 150 First Neck Lane, the gated 1-acre property boasts the 6,000-square-foot Sugar Cube House, a pool, and landscape design by Perry Guillot, the Southampton-based landscape architect who notably worked on the recent renovation of the White House Rose Garden.

Mr. Romualdez reimagined the original house on the property for then-owner Alan Rogers, a former chairman and CEO of Douglas Elliman Real Estate. At the time, Mr. Rogers told Architectural Digest that the original stucco structure looked like “a bad Palm Beach house” and that he instructed Mr. Romualdez “to produce a non-Hamptons house” with a California feel that invokes 1940s Hollywood glamour.

The result is a white house that does quite resemble a series of connected sugar cubes.

According to town records, Mr. Rogers purchased the property in 1998 for $1.55 million and sold it in 2002 after the redesign for $4.5 million to Roger K. Taylor.

The main floor is suited to the times, with its secluded office. It also has an eat-in chef’s kitchen, a private guest suite, and multiple entertaining spaces, including a living room with a double-height ceiling and a central fireplace. The living room opens to a covered terrace overlooking the gardens.

The second floor has a large master bedroom suite with a fireplace, a walk-in closet, a bathroom and a private deck. Rounding out the second floor are three more en-suite bedrooms.

The finished lower level has a gym, a sitting area, a wine cellar, and access to the outdoor living areas, including the dining area in the lavender garden and the outdoor living room with a fireplace.

A “statuesque hallway of trees” encloses the pool and flower gardens, according to the listing from Douglas Elliman.

A detached structure in the same style as the main residence includes a two-car garage and a studio pool house with a full bathroom and its own outdoor seating area and outdoor shower.

Elliman’s Michaela Keszler had the listing.
