A waterfront residence in Water Mill recently sold for $8.5 million — half a million dollars over the asking price.

At 84 Wheaton Way, the 4,000-square-foot traditional with both water and farm field views has four bedrooms and four bathrooms. Numerous large windows capture the views and allow in an abundance of natural light.

The living room has a fireplace and opens to a deck. Adjacent to a dining area, the eat-in kitchen features a marble-top island and “exquisite” woodwork and cabinetry, according to the listing, as well as stone countertops and high-end stainless steel appliances. An additional space, which was being used as a gym, has a double-height ceiling.

The master bedroom has a fireplace and private balcony, and the master bath has a spa tub.

A screened-in porch for outdoor dining opens to the deck around the pool.

The 1.25-acre property includes a private boardwalk to an inlet off Mecox Bay. A heated Gunite pool and spa overlook the water. There is also a one-car detached garage.

Vincent Horcasitas and Alan Schnurman of Saunders & Associates had the listing.

The deal closed on May 4, according to The Real Estate Report Inc., which reports that the sellers were Paul and Sharon Pepe and the new owner is Cricket84 LLC.

The Pepes bought the land in 1993, when it was vacant, for $256,000, according to town property records.
