The Jewish Film Festival kicks off on Monday, June 29, at 7:30 p.m. with “Beneath the Helmet,” which follows the story of five new recruits in the Israeli Defense Forces, at the Hampton Arts Cinema in Westhampton Beach.
Each screening—hosted by The Hampton Synagogue—is free admission and concludes with a filmmaker discussion and dessert reception. The series continues through the end of the summer.
Additional films include “Defiant Requiem” on July 6 at 7:30 p.m.; “Nowhere in Africa” on July 13 at 7:30 p.m.; “Above and Beyond” on July 11 at 9:45 a.m.; “The Decent One” on July 18 at 9:45 p.m.; “Besa” on July 20 at 7:30 p.m.; and “Zero Motivation” on July 27 at 7:30 p.m.
On July 26, “Jealous of the Birds” will screen at 11 a.m., followed by “Hannah Arendt” at 3 p.m., as part of the “Tisha B’av Film Series.”
The remaining films screen at 7:30 p.m.: “Let My People Go” on August 3; “Adon Olam: The Cantor's Prayer” on August 10; “Koch” on August 17; “112 Weddings” on August 24; and “Broadway Musicals: A Jewish Legacy” on August 21.
