Though feasting at Easter after the fasting of Lent dates to ancient times, the tradition has continued in fine style to the present. And, as ever, East End restaurateurs are extending themselves to make it easier for families to enjoy the dining part of their observance of the holiday away from the muss and fuss of their own kitchens.

This week, Dining Out offers a partial listing of some of the places offering special menus and meals for Easter weekend.

Southampton

O

SO Restaurant

, 91 Hill Street at the Southampton Inn, will offer a festive family brunch buffet from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 12, prepared by executive chef Brian Naylor. Cost is $35 per person or $15 for children age 12 and younger. Call 283-1166 for information or reservations.

Wildthyme

, 129 Noyac Road, will offer Good Friday and Easter Sunday specials in addition to the standard menu. In keeping with the seasonal theme, there will be several meat-free choices on Friday evening. Easter will feature a special prix fixe four-course dinner from 3 to 9 p.m. For reservations or information, call 255-9568.

Southampton Publick House,

Bowden Square, will offer Easter brunch from noon until 3 p.m., or diners can indulge in the Easter three-course prix fixe dinner for $30 per person (plus tax and gratuity), served from 3 to 9 p.m. The regular dinner menu will also be available. Reservations are recommended; call 283-2800.

Four Seasons Caterer

, 15 Prospect Street, will offer an Easter dinner buffet from noon to 4 p.m., with live jazz by Jim Turner and a community Easter egg hunt starting at noon. Human Resources of the Hamptons will collect non-perishable food items during the hunt. Cost for the buffet will be $34.95 (plus tax and tip) for adults and $12 for kids 12 and under. MJ Dowlings

Oasis Restaurant

, 136 North Main Street, will be celebrating Easter Sunday on April 12 with a special brunch from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Dinner will be served beginning at 6 p.m. featuring the regular a la carte menu with additional holiday specials. Bamboo Restaurant and Sushi Lounge

, 47 Montauk Highway, will serve two-for-one sushi items on Easter Sunday, as well as a $25 five-course prix fixe dinner from 5:30 p.m. to closing. The regular menu will also be offered. Call 329-9821 for information or reservations.

The Lodge Bar and Grill

East Hampton Point

The menu will be available from noon to 5 p.m. during lunch and from 5 to 10 p.m. for dinner. Regular menus will also be available.
