Even cynical writers for the Press and 27east.com tend to have tails wagging when they read about a house that was “masterfully executed by an all-star development team.” Add that the price tag for the recent transaction was $7 million, and the property is worth some scrutiny.
It can be found on Wainscott Hollow Road—bet you can guess the hamlet—and the new owner is the Blue Wolf Trust. Little is known about this purchaser other than it traces back to Las Vegas. That “all-star team” consists of Ponte Equities, one of the largest real estate developers in the Lower 48; the fashion brand Haute Hippie, and C.A.C. Industries, a major New York contracting company.
To the property itself: The south-of-the-highway house is 7,300 square feet and contains 6 bedrooms and 7 baths on a half-acre. The exterior of the residence combines white clapboard with cedar shake, bluestone patios, a covered front porch, and custom carriage doors. Yes, we won’t forget the in-ground heated pool, spa, pool house, cedar shower, and an entertaining area with a full kitchen and stone fireplace.
The interior ain’t too shabby either. The first floor has a double-entry foyer leading to sunlit rooms that include a chef’s kitchen with double sets of top-notch appliances, 10.5-foot ceilings, a fireplace with floor-to-ceiling stone surround. The master suite on the second floor has a fireplace and sitting room and the bath has an oversize soaking tub and double steam shower. The home also features a recreation room, wine bar, a gym, a theater, and, in case there are any hoarders in the family, cedar storage closets.
The $7,220,000 purchase was the biggest deal reported in the Town of East Hampton last week.
