How wonderful to read the excellent and informative article by Michael Wright on the return of the alewife run [“Once Nearly Stanched, Ligonee Brook Sees A Run Of Young Alewives,” 27east.com, October 22]. The “creek” is the Sag Harbor boundary and a contributor to the Long Pond Greenbelt, a Sag Harbor treasure. It is so important to acknowledge the stream/creek and its importance to the boundary of Sag Harbor and to the health of the Long Pond Greenbelt.
Thank you for the important history provided in the article. And thank you to the Friends of the Long Pond Greenbelt for their years of support.
