FACILITY ASSISTANT PART-TIME -- The Facility Assistant plays a key role in ensuring that the retreat center operates smoothly and efficiently. The role is typically hands-on and requires multitasking, problem-solving and excellent communication skills to collaboratively work with staff, contractors, and visitors. The hourly rate for this position will be $20.00 to $22.00 depending on experience.
Job Responsibilities:
• General Maintenance
o Perform daily checks to ensure that the building is in good condition
o Identify and report any issues to the Building & Grounds Manager and Retreat Director
o Coordinate repairs as needed with the Building & Grounds Manager
o Coordinate heating and cooling system schedules
o Perform plumbing, electrical, carpentry and other minor repair work on facility when needed
o Paints and repairs minor types of work when needed
• Cleaning and Sanitation
o Perform basic cleaning tasks (sweeping & mopping hallway stairwells, dining room floor)
o Maintain cleanliness in shared spaces (bathrooms, kitchen, hallways, stairways, dining room)
o Assist in clearing tables, chairs and counter spaces after use
o Empty trash receptacles in the conference space, hallways and shower rooms.
o Clean elevator floor and polish inside cabin to remove fingerprints
• Security and Safety
o Monitor security systems such as alarm controls
o Promptly respond to emergency situation or requests
• Inventory Management
o Keep track of supplies and equipment
o Order and restock office and facility supplies as needed (e.g., cleaning products, office paper, etc.)
• Retreat/Program/Event Support
o Set up and break down meeting rooms or event spaces
o Ensure that the facility is prepared for meetings (e.g., setting up chairs and tables, etc.)
o Restock basement shelves with sheets and towels returned from vendor
o Provide assistance to employees with facility-related requests
• Administrative Tasks
o Keep records of maintenance requests and completed work
o Proactively maintain the service and maintenance schedule of all equipment
Qualifications:
• Minimum education of a High school diploma or GED
• First Aid/CPR certification, preferred
• Previous experience in facilities management, preferred
• Basic knowledge of building systems
Required Skills/Abilities:
• Exceptional attention to detail with an emphasis on cleanliness and sanitation
• Able to perform tasks such as cleaning, lifting (up to 30 lbs.) and setting up spaces.
• Willingness to follow instructions and work collaboratively with all departments
• Ability to shovel snow from entrance ways and paths
• Maintain a friendly and positive attitude
• Able to arrive to the Retreat Center within an hour.
• Weekend work required in emergency circumstances.

The pay range for this role is:
